Welcome to the Ngati Paoa Iwi Tribal Registration 

To register you must:
  • Be a descendant of a Ngāti Paoa ancestor, being either
    i. Paoa, or
    ii. a recognised ancestor of one of the Ngāti Paoa hapū.
  • A person is descended from another person if by birth, or by whāngai according to Ngāti Paoa tikanga.

What is the purpose of becoming a registered person of Ngāti Paoa?:
  • To be notified of important issues, events and decisions affecting Ngāti Paoa
  • To obtain eligibility to vote in Ngāti Paoa Iwi Trust elections (for those over the age of 18)
  • To obtain benefits entitled to members of Ngāti Paoa
  • To build a comprehensive database to strengthen the links of Ngāti Paoa descendants

Register Online via the Maori Me portal
  • Check and regularly update your own details
  • Easily add your own tamariki
  • You can also use your profile to connect to other Iwi who use the Maori Me system.

Collection and use of Personal Information

We collect personal information from you when you register with the Ngāti Paoa Iwi Trust, including information about your:
  • Name
  • Address
  • Contact Information
  • Date of Birth
  • Whakapapa

We collect your personal information for the following purposes:
  • To notify you of important issues, events and decisions affecting Ngāti Paoa
  • For you to be eligible to vote in Ngāti Paoa elections
  • To obtain benefits entitled to members of Ngāti Paoa
  • To build a comprehensive database of Ngāti Paoa people, and strengthen the whanaungatanga between Ngāti Paoa descendants
  • To help to develop, improve and refine the services delivered by NPIT.

Providing some information is optional. If you do not enter correct or complete information, we may be unable to complete your registration, or this may affect your ability to participate in elections, or obtain benefits provided to Ngati Paoa iwi members. You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong. If you would like to ask for a copy of your information, or to have it corrected, please contact us at [email protected], or make an appointment to visit the office at 15 Queens Rd, Panmure.

Storage and Security
We keep your information safe by storing your information in Tiki-OS and only allowing the validation committee and certain staff access to it. We protect our data with all reasonable technical and process controls. You can access or update this information at any time by logging into your MaoriMe account, the Tiki-OS web app through which all registrations are processed, or by emailing [email protected], or visiting us in the office at 15 Queens Rd Panmure.

Sharing
We will only use and share personal information where necessary to carry out the functions 
for which we collected it, or if required by law.  We will not disclose personal information 
provided or collected unless you otherwise provide consent (for example, if we contact you 
to request consent to refer you to an external agency or third party).
